There is no streak to break

I have had years where getting out of bed was a win.

I have also had years where I was building things with AI, burning through tokens and quotas, and still ending the day thinking I had done nothing.

Both years had the same problem.

My head was keeping the wrong record.

When things were really bad, the creditors, lawyers, liquidators, and court appointments erased everything else.

I could have eaten lunch.

I could have played with my daughter.

But by the end of the day, all I could remember was the next problem.

Later, when I became productive again, the same thing happened in a different way.

I could finish ten things and only see the next ten.

So I wrote down the things that went right.

Sometimes three.

Sometimes one.

Sometimes ten.

Three was never a rule.

In the beginning, I put them on a random Twitter account. It gave me somewhere to leave the wins, with a little accountability.

But the important part was the record.

Woke up.

Had lunch.

Played with my daughter.

Got through the fucking day.

Those lines did not fix anything.

They did not stop the calls or make the legal problems disappear. They did not prevent panic attacks. They were not gratitude recordings that forced me to say everything was good.

Everything was not good.

The lines just stopped the bad parts from claiming the entire day.

That is why I do not want a streak.

A streak takes a small useful thing and gives it another way to become a failure.

Miss Monday and now Tuesday begins with a broken number.

Disappear for two weeks and the empty space starts to feel like something I have to explain.

I do not want to explain it.

Maybe those two weeks were full of creditors and court.

Maybe they were full of AI, tokens, quotas, and unfinished ideas.

Maybe I was tired.

Maybe I simply did not write anything down.

Nothing happens.

There is no message saying I forgot yesterday.

There is no punishment waiting when I come back.

I can open it again and write one line.

Had lunch.

That counts.

The gap is not a failure. It is just a gap.

This is private. There are no followers waiting for consistency. Nobody likes the good days or comments on the bad ones. I am not performing gratitude or productivity for anyone.

I am leaving myself a record.

Some days I need that record because the day was fucking awful.

Some days I need it because I moved so quickly that I forgot what I finished.

And some days I do not need it at all.

So I skip the day.

Then another.

Then maybe two weeks.

When I come back, I do not restart.

I just write what happened today.
